Michael J. FreyPresident & CEO
Mr. Frey is responsible for gas operations for the Issuer, including managing physical deliveries to the Issuer’s Members; reviewing and approving capital development activities, including preparation of the annual capital budget; seeking and analyzing acquisition opportunities; and working closely with the Issuer’s primary operators to monitor their activities. He has been employed by the Gas Authority since 1989. He joined the Gas Authority in the area of supply planning and has since that time managed the Gas Authority’s Member support, Member services, energy services and business development functions. He was appointed to his current position in June, 2001. Mr. Frey has over 25 years of energy industry experience, including regulatory, production, transmission, wholesale supply and retail service. Mr. Frey’s prior experience includes two years with FERC in Washington, D.C. and four years with El Paso Natural Gas Pipeline in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Frey has a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, and is a Certified Energy Procurement Professional, a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner.
Tina SmithChief Operating Officer
Ms. Tina Smith is the Director of Gas Supply for the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia. She has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of the natural gas supply chain including production, supply planning and acquisition, risk management, pipeline transportation, and direct end user contracting. She is also involved in strategic planning and asset management. She is a founding member of the Greater Atlanta Women’s Energy Network and has served on both the chapter and national boards. She is also a member of the Southern Gas Association (SGA) and American Public Gas Association (APGA).
Chris HowellChief Financial Officer
Mr. Howell is responsible for all aspects of financial operations and reporting for the Issuer. Those responsibilities include economic analysis and due diligence related to potential acquisitions; review of and reporting on the financial and operational performance of acquired properties; preparing the annual budget; managing the Issuer’s financing activities; and quarterly and annual preparation of financial statements. He joined the Gas Authority in 2003 as a Manager of Finance and was promoted to Director of Finance in 2004. He has 16 years of business and financial experience and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Georgia. Prior to joining the Gas Authority, Mr. Howell spent 10 years with Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he served as a Senior Manager to a number of audit clients in the utility and energy sector. He also spent two years as a manager in the Accounting Research division of Deloitte’s National Office in Wilton, Connecticut, helping the firm conclude on complex technical accounting questions for clients throughout the U.S. and abroad. He began his career as a Financial Analyst at NCR Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Howell has a B.B.A. in Finance and an M.B.A. in Accounting & MIS from the University of Georgia, both degrees with honors.
